Damien Ricketson
Damien Ricketson (b. 1973) is an Australian composer of contemporary classical music. He grew up in Wollongong, New South Wales and performed early on in the world folk ensemble Sea Gypsies.
After completing a B.M. degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, he continued his studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with the Dutch composer Louis Andriessen. He recently completed a doctorate in composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where he also teaches.
Ricketson co-founded and directs Ensemble Offspring, a Sydney collective dedicated to the performance of new music. His Ptolemy's Onion received the Marienberg Spring Award for an "Outstanding Australian composition."
